Psychology for Life is a range of courses developed for delivery by teaching staff in their own establishment. The courses are each targeted at a different form of challenging behaviour. There are many courses designed to work on behaviour and self awareness.

Our courses are unique – they use the knowledge base of psychology and psychotherapy to educate young people about the origins of their behaviours.

Incorporated into each course are easy to understand approaches to personality and behaviour which allow the young person to reflect on their own conduct, the conduct of those around them and ultimately their behaviour.

Students will, over the course of study, use Transactional analysis, Cognitive behaviour therapy, Basic Psychology and NLP to investigate where behaviour comes from and how we can work on combating it.

These courses fit into the SEAL objectives and offer an effective personal development programme.
The courses are delivered in house. We ask that a designated tutor be nominated to run the course, they will then be provided with a teachers module to complete before hand. Positive Progress will provide all schemes, lesson plans and resources required to run the course.

For those centres wanting to establish a Peer mentoring programme or a student led support service, we now offer a course in a similar format designed at educating about behaviour, how to use interventions, active listening skills, restorative practice and conflict resolution. Whilst we understand that no student will be left to cope with another's distress, setting up and equipping students with positive helping skills can add value to a school environment. Centre's currently using these courses have used it in their bullying initiatives, prefect schemes and student Voice groups.
